Impact

How we'll measure our impact

Every completed pickup will add to four public totals. This page explains how each one is worked out.

Totals to date

There are no numbers here yet, because the platform hasn't started. We'll publish the first totals after the pilot in early 2027. From then on they'll be updated every week, once our team has checked and published them.

Method

How each number is worked out

Every number starts from the weight of food collected, and the others are worked out from it with published factors. Totals come straight from completed orders, so nobody types them in by hand.

Kilograms of food rescued

Every listing carries the vendor's estimate of its weight, with a helper that suggests a figure: 40 naan is about 6 kg. A weight more than 3 times the helper's estimate sends the listing to our team for review.

A listing counts only once its pickup code has been entered at handover and the order is completed. Food that expires, is cancelled or isn't collected adds nothing.

Meal equivalents

One meal for every 420 g of food. This follows WRAP's meal-equivalent guidance, the most cautious published factor.

Where a vendor lists portions, we count the portions, but never more than the weight divided by 0.42 kg, so small portions can't inflate the count. A meal equivalent measures an amount of food. It isn't a claim about a balanced meal.

CO2e avoided

2.5 kg of CO2e for every kg of food. It comes from FAO's Food Wastage Footprint, which puts the footprint of 1.3 billion tonnes of wasted food at 3.3 billion tonnes of CO2e.

It's an average across all kinds of food, so treat it as an estimate rather than a measurement. CO2e means greenhouse gas counted as the amount of carbon dioxide with the same warming effect.

Rupees saved by NGOs

The food's retail value minus the price the NGO paid. Vendors state the retail value on every listing, and the price can be at most half of it, so an NGO always saves at least half of what the food would cost in the shop.

Active partners

The verified vendors and NGOs taking part through completed orders. We'll state the exact period it covers alongside the first published totals.

Who publishes them

The public numbers change only when someone on our team checks and publishes them, once a week. Weight is always shown next to meals, so you can see what each figure rests on.

Our goals

The five UN goals we report on

Each goal is matched to a figure that comes from the platform's own records, not from a survey or a guess.

  • Goal 2: Zero Hunger

Meal equivalents delivered and NGOs served

  • Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Kilograms of food kept from waste (target 12.3)

  • Goal 1: No Poverty

Rupees saved by NGOs (retail value minus price paid)

  • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Kilograms kept out of Islamabad's municipal waste

  • Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

    Active vendor and NGO partnerships

Reports

What you'll be able to see

Vendors

Each vendor will see its own kilograms, meals and CO2e, with a monthly impact certificate it can share.

NGOs

Each NGO will see the kilograms and meals it received and the money it saved, with a summary ready for its donors.

Everyone, later

A monthly chart will appear on this page with the first published totals. A yearly report you can download comes in Phase 2, after launch.
