Cookie Policy

Version 0.1 (draft) Effective from launch (22 March 2027)

This policy is a draft. It will be reviewed by a Pakistani lawyer before Rizq Rasan launches, and the English text is the binding version.

This policy explains how Rizq Rasan uses cookies and similar technologies: on this website today, and on the platform that verified businesses and NGOs will use from launch. Read it with our Privacy Policy, which explains what personal information we hold and why.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser, so it can recognise your browser on the next page or the next visit. A website can also keep information in your browser’s own storage, which works in a similar way. In this policy, “cookies” covers both.

Cookies set by the site you are visiting are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company whose content appears on that site are third-party cookies. Some cookies disappear when you close your browser. Others stay until they expire or you delete them.

2. This website today

This website is a set of plain pages hosted on GitHub Pages. It has no log in, no accounts and no payments.

  • No cookies by default. This website does not set any cookies or save anything in your browser’s storage. The one exception is if you choose to read it in Urdu (see section 3).
  • No analytics or tracking. We don’t use visitor counters, analytics, advertising or social media tracking tools, so we don’t know which pages you read.
  • No cookie banner. Nothing is set unless you press the Urdu button yourself, so you won’t see one.
  • Forms. The contact, partner and “register your interest” forms don’t set cookies either. When you send one, your email app opens with a pre-filled message to us or, once we connect a form service, your details reach us through that provider. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to them.

Like any web host, GitHub receives your browser’s request for each page, including your IP address, so that it can send the page back to you.

3. Google Fonts and Google Translate

Fonts

Our headings use a typeface called Fraunces. Your browser downloads it from Google Fonts when you open a page. To send the font, Google’s servers receive:

  • your IP address;
  • the details your browser sends with every request, such as the browser type and language;
  • the address of the page that asked for the font.

We don’t receive any of this from Google. Google handles what it receives under its own privacy policy.

If you would rather your browser didn’t contact Google, you can block fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com in your browser settings or with a content blocker. Every page still works, and the headings appear in a font already on your device.

Urdu translation

The “اردو” button at the top of each page translates the page into Urdu using Google Translate. Nothing from Google Translate loads unless you press it. When you do:

  • your browser downloads Google’s translation script, and Google receives your IP address, browser details and the text of the page so it can translate it;
  • Google Translate sets a cookie called googtrans that remembers you chose Urdu, so the next page also opens in Urdu. Pressing “English” deletes it.

The translation is automatic and may contain mistakes. The English text is always the official version. Google handles what it receives under its own privacy policy.

4. The platform from launch

From launch, verified businesses and NGOs will sign in to Rizq Rasan to list, claim, pay for and collect food. The platform will need a few cookies to do that, and we will keep to three rules:

  • Only essential cookies by default. These keep you signed in and protect your account. The platform cannot work without them, so they are always on.
  • Analytics only if you agree. Analytics cookies stay off until you turn them on.
  • Never advertising trackers. We will never use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or tools that follow you across other websites, and we will never sell information about you.

These are the cookie categories we plan to use:

Category What it is for Set by Your choice
Essential Keeping you signed in as you move between screens, until you sign out Rizq Rasan Always on
Essential Protecting sign-in and forms from bots and forged requests, including a bot check on sign-up, sign-in and password reset Rizq Rasan, with the bot check provided by Cloudflare Turnstile Always on
Essential Remembering your answer about analytics cookies, so we don’t ask on every visit Rizq Rasan Always on
Essential Keeping your latest order and its pickup code readable on your phone when the signal drops Rizq Rasan, in your device’s storage Always on
Analytics Showing us how screens are used, such as where people leave a step unfinished, so we can fix problems. Anything you type into a form is masked before it is sent PostHog, our planned analytics provider Off unless you turn it on
Advertising Not used Nobody Never

Before the platform opens, we will add the name of each cookie and how long it lasts to this page.

Choosing on the platform

The first time you open the platform, a banner will ask whether you accept analytics cookies. Saying no will be as easy as saying yes, and only essential cookies are used until you choose. A “Cookie settings” link in the platform’s footer will reopen the banner, so you can change your mind at any time. If you turn analytics off, we stop collecting analytics from your browser from that moment.

Other services you will meet

  • Payments. NGOs pay on PayFast’s own page or in their bank’s app. PayFast and the bank may use their own cookies there, under their own policies.
  • Google sign-in. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google’s sign-in page uses Google’s own cookies.
  • Maps. The platform will use Google Maps for its map and address search, so Google receives your IP address when a map loads.

5. How to control cookies

  • In your browser. Most browsers let you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block them for one site or for all sites. Look under privacy or site data in your browser’s settings. A private or incognito window deletes its cookies when you close it.
  • On this website, blocking cookies changes nothing, because we don’t set any.
  • On the platform, you can use the “Cookie settings” link to turn analytics on or off. If you block essential cookies, you won’t be able to stay signed in and some screens won’t work.
  • Google Fonts can be blocked as described in section 3.
  • Google Translate only loads if you press the Urdu button. Press “English” to switch back and delete its cookie.

6. Changes to this policy

We will update this page before we add or change a cookie, and show the new version number and effective date at the top. If we change the platform’s cookies in a way that matters to you, we will tell account holders by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect, as our Terms of Service explain. Whatever changes, we will not add advertising trackers.
